Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma made the decision to become an actor by the age of six. For several years she was a student at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. The school taught her singing as well as dancing, and also acting. Emma's first cinematic appearance was alongside Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film set records on its opening and weekend ticket revenues, and it also became the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film was well-received by reviewers, and so were the performance of three new stars. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her exceptional performance. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for a Feature Film. Emma was nominated five times for her part in the film.
